About SAUFEX
Secure Automated Unified Framework for Exchange
SAUFEX is an EU Horizon Europe funded project designed to combat foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) through innovative research, educational programs, and international collaboration.
We bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from across Europe to strengthen democratic resilience. Our work focuses on understanding how disinformation operates, developing tools and frameworks to counter it, and building capacity through education and training.
The project operates on the principle that protecting democracy requires a whole-of-society approach - engaging citizens, civil society, media, and governments in building collective resilience against information threats.
What We Do
Research & Analysis
We study how foreign information manipulation operates, identifying patterns, narratives, and tactics used to undermine democratic societies.
Resilience Councils
We establish and support resilience councils - local networks that bring together diverse stakeholders to build community-level defenses against disinformation.
Education & Training
We develop educational modules and training programs for officials, journalists, educators, and citizens to recognize and respond to information manipulation.
International Collaboration
We foster cooperation between European countries, sharing best practices and coordinating responses to cross-border information threats.
Horizon Europe
SAUFEX is funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. Horizon Europe is the EU's key funding programme for research and innovation, tackling climate change, helping to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, and boosting the EU's competitiveness and growth.
